On our home page, you will notice three words that stand out: Education, Innovation and Compassion. Those are not just taglines for marketing purposes. They are the concepts that our programs are built upon: educating our residents to become exceptional physicians by building a learning environment that utilizes the most successful and innovative teaching methods and by role-modeling patient-centered compassion to our diverse population.
We are looking for leaders who are committed first of all to developing and role-modeling continuous healing relationships with the patients we serve. Secondly, we are looking for leaders who are not afraid to be innovators within a team framework, providing continuous feedback to faculty and leadership on successes and opportunities in our educational model. Thirdly, we are looking for leaders who are committed to partnering with our program in reaching our community in support of its healthcare and other needs. And finally, we are looking for leaders who will be trusted ambassadors of our residency programs, of Redmond Regional Medical Center’s mission and, in particular, of the specialty of Internal Medicine and who model the highest quality of character to successive generations of physicians and to the world around us. And, we believe that our first cohorts of residents fit those ideals to a tee.
We are confident that many of our graduates will choose to remain in our community. Additionally, having robust academic affiliations and an outstanding reputation, we also expect abundant success in placing graduates into the sub-specialty fellowships of their choice. Wherever our graduates end up and whatever their future takes them, it is our commitment to support them and to provide them with a superb foundation for their future careers.
As Director, I am honored to work with some of the most committed and talented faculty here in Northwest Georgia, many of whom have clinical appointments with one or both of our affiliated academic institutions – the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and the Georgia campus of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. With our 48 categorical Internal Medicine positions and 13 Transitional Year residents and the potential of adding other Programs at full implementation, Redmond’s GME Program will be among the largest community-based programs in the State of Georgia.
